JEWELRY. Eastern Iranian Plateau. Middle - Late Bronze Age. 2000-1200 BCE. (23 cm long x 3.5 cm wide). Bronze. A long straight cloak pin atop which sits a coiled snake or lizard which itself wears a crown with four round holes and three triangular holes. Comparable bronze dress fasteners are documented in excavated contexts at sites including Tepe Yahya, Shahdad, and Shahr‑i Sokhta. Though frequently labeled “Luristan” in the art market, such objects reflect broader eastern Iranian Plateau metalworking traditions distinct from the Zagros bronze corpus. Earthen green patina. Intact. |
