Nimbate facing figure of St. John Prodromos, raising hand and holding book(?); at feet to left, ax set beside small tree; to left, O/Iω with macron above. The ax set beside the tree found on the obverse of this seal next to St. John Prodromos recalls his words to the Pharisees in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. “And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire” (Matthew 3:10-11).
