Carausius. Romano-British Emperor, AD 286-293. Antoninianus (23.5mm, 3.67 g, 6h). ‘C’ mint. Struck circa AD 287-290. Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / APOLL[INI P]ACIFERO , Apollo seated left, holding olive branch and resting elbow on back of chair; C. RIC V.5 2285 (this coin cited). Dark green patina, obverse rotated double struck, roughness. Fine. Extremely rare. One of only two examples cited in RIC V.5. The other example residing in the public collection, thus this coin the only example in private hands.
