EASTERN EUROPE, Imitations of Thasos. Circa 90-75 BC. AR Tetradrachm (32mm, 16.83 g, 12h). ‘Auflösung der Legend; mit Θ oder O’ (Degraded legend; with Θ or O) type. Mint in the lower Danube region. Head of young Dionysos right, wearing ivy wreath / Herakles standing facing, radiate head left, holding club in right hand, lion’s skin draped over left arm; to inner left and right, trident. Lukanc Ve groupe, 1911 (same obv. die); OTA Klasse III/A –; cf. Lanz 975–9; KMW –; CCCBM I –. Toned, minor deposits, bent flan. VF. Extremely rare. Unpublished with the trident control symbols. Also interesting with a radiate head.
