Bareheaded and draped bust right, slight beard / Eagle standing facing, head and tail left, with wings displayed, holding wreath in beak; star between legs. Prieur & Amandry Groupe III, 43; McAlee, Severan –; RPC V.3 Online 87397 (this coin cited); Prieur 1158 (this coin). Toned. In NGC encapsulation 8560324-322, graded Ch XF, Strike: 5/5, Surface: 4/5. Bold portrait. Extremely rare, only one noted by Prieur, five in CoinArchives, and seven in RPC.

This is the only bearded portrait of Geta as Caesar issued at Laodicea, certainly struck shortly before he became Augustus late in AD 209. All known coins are struck with the same obverse die.
