CENTRAL EUROPE, Vindelici. Early 1st century BC. AV Stater (17mm, 7.62 g, 4h). Triskeles within wreath-like torc / Pyramid of eight annulets, five with pellets within, three with annulets; all within torque. Kellner Type IX A; cf. KMW 467-9 (for type in silver); Flesche 402. EF.

The Vindelici were a Celtic tribe living on the plains of modern-day upper Bavaria. They were conquered by the Romans during the reign of Augustus in 16-15 BC, after which Tiberius and Drusus founded the city of Augusta Vindelicum, known today Augsburg.
