MAXIMINVS NOB CAES, helmeted and cuirassed bust left, holding spear over right shoulder in right hand, wearing on left arm a shield depicting two horsemen riding down four enemies / SOLI IN-VICTAE, Sol standing in facing quadriga, raising right hand and holding globe in left; Z//ANT. Cf. RIC VI 145b/144 (obv./rev. type); DOC -; cf. Hunter 51 (for similar bust type); Cohen -; CNG XXIV, 475. Good VF, slight surface roughness. Extremely rare.

The use of the feminine INVICTAE instead of male INVICTO is curious; an engraver’s error?
