[Bronze objects] ROMAN. Bronze and enamel traveling ink pot lid. Circa 3rd-4th century AD. Hexagonal bronze frame, 52mm across the flat edges. Central flanged hole for removable cap, surrounded by bands of multi-colored enamel inlay, red with blue and white checkerboard, and blue and white checkerboard. Three corners with riveted loops, one with remains of iron chain, by which the pot would have been attached to a girdle or belt. Choice condition, lovely matte green patina, the enameling a little eroded but intact.
