Facing bust of Christ, raising hand in benediction and holding Gospels; nimbus with • in vertical cross arm, •• in lateral cross arms / Facing bust of John, wearing short beard and loros, holding patriarchal cross, with • on shaft, being crowned by the Theotokos, above, manus Dei to left; crown topped with cross and with pendilia. Cf. DOC III 3; SB 1785. Near EF, obverse struck with worn die, trace of porosity on obverse.
