Commodus. AD 177-192. Æ Sestertius (21.85 g, 1h). Struck AD 184. Laureate head right / Victory seated right on rock, holding palm in right hand, shield set on left knee, two shields on ground behind; VICT BRIT in exergue. RIC III 440; MIR 18, 653-6/30; Banti 484. Good VF, green patina, small flan crack, minor roughness.

During the reign of Commodus, a serious revolt erupted in Britain in 184, the causes of which are uncertain. The revolt was quickly put down, and a series of coins was struck to commemorate the event.
