CELTIC, Carpathian region. Uncertain tribe. Late 2nd-early 1st century BC. AR Drachm (2.00 g, 4h). Celticized head of Herakles right (highly degraded), wearing lion skin headdress, with S-like ornaments / Celticized horseman left, rider degraded to a sun-like ornament, the horse’s tail to a wedge-like ornament with branch-like streamer. Lanz -; CCCBM I -; KMW -; Preda pl. 547, 5; Göbl, OTA 266. VF, lightly toned. Extremely rare, only two examples published, both in public collections (Budapest and Cugir).
