MARCUS AURELIUS. As Caesar, 139-161 AD. AR Denarius (18mm, 3.49 g, 6h). Struck 147/8 AD. Bare-headed bust right, drapery on left shoulder / Minerva standing facing, head right, holding spear and resting hand on shield. RIC III 438b (Pius); BMCRE IV (Pius) 639; RSC 608a. Good VF.

In BMCRE IV (p. 92) this obverse is described a little more precisely as having "drapery on left shoulder, front and back". (See also BMCRE IV plate 13, 18). Ex Harlan J. Berk 113 (14 March, 2000), lot 294.
