Crowned facing bust, in consular garb, holding mappa and cross; AV N S / Angel standing facing, holding staff surmounted by Christogram and globus cruciger; S/CONOB. DOC II 107 var. (IY 7); MIB II 31; SB 680. VF, slightly warped flan, mount marks. Rare first year of issue Carthage solidus. ($500)

Most of the known examples of the rare Carthage consular bust solidi are mounted. They were probably intended as presentation pieces connected to the coronation ceremony of Phocas.
