VESPASIAN. 69-79 AD. AV Aureus (7.08 gm, 1h). Rome mint. Struck 73 AD. IMP CAES VESP AVG CEN, laureate smaller head right / VES-TA, Temple of Vesta: statue of Vesta standing left on low basis, holding [patera] in right hand and long sceptre in left hand; all within tetrastyle belvedere set on low tier with central staircase; two statues standing left and right on low bases, each holding a long sceptre, flanking the temple. Cf. RIC II 69a; BMCRE 107; BN 92 var. (larger head); Calicó 690a; cf. Cohen 578. Good VF, small hairline lamination. Rare. ($7500)
