ROMAN ERA. Roman. Bronze Statuette of Priapus. Circa 2nd-3rd century AD. Height 40mm. A small three-dimensional figurine of Priapus, the god of regeneration and vitality. He holds a collection of fruit in his bunched robe, beneath which is displayed his exaggerated phallus. Priapus both delivered prosperity and defended it with his "virility". Rough green patina, detail obscured. Good condition. ($300)
