From the Garth R. Drewry Collection. Ex Paramount (7-8 January 1977), lot 585.

Cavino and his students experimented with a variety of coinage metals with this Antinoüs medallion. Early examples are known in bronze, bimetallic bronze and brass, and silver. This piece has the appearance of either silver-washed or of low grade silver, similar to third century billon pieces.
