MARK ANTONY. 32-31 BC. AR Legionary Denarius (3.79 gm). Patrae(?) mint. Galley right / LEG XVII CLASSICAE, legionary aquila between two standards. Crawford 544/10; CRI 373; Sydenham 1238; RSC 50. Good VF, good metal. Very rare. ($1000)

Not to be confused with a similar legion under the command of Octavian, this Antonian legion was either disbanded or incorporated into another legion after Actium. The cognomen CLASSICA suggests that this unit had some naval function among Antony's forces.
