SICILY, Syracuse. Second Democracy. 466-405 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.23 gm). Struck circa 430 BC. Charioteer driving quadriga right, holding kentron and reins; above, Nike flying right, crowning horses / Head of Arethusa right, wearing ampyx and sakkos decorated with meander pattern, surrounded by four dolphins. Boehringer Series XX, 646.2 (V327/R445 - illustrated on pl. 24) = Basel 449 = Jameson 785 (this coin); SNG ANS 210 (same dies). Good VF, toned. ($2500)
