CELTIC, Britain. Trinovantes. Addedomarus. Circa 45-20 BC. AV Stater (5.61 gm). Triple wreaths in spiral centered on three crescents; pellets in interstices / Horse galloping right; triplet symbol above, cornucopiae below, pellet-in-rings around. Hobbs 2397; Van Arsdell 1620-1; SCBC 201. Good VF, strong strike. Rose gold. ($1000)

The nature of the complex triplet symbol above the horse remains controversial. Van Arsdell described it as a "three-ringed object, similar to Llyn Cerig Bach gang-chain", while John Evans proposed a circle of three horse heads.
