INDO-PARTHIAN. Margiana or Sogdiana. Unknown king. Circa late 1st century BC - early 1st century AD. Imitation countermarked Parthian AR Drachm (22mm, 2.61 gm) of Phraates IV. Diademed bust left; "countermark:" helmeted bust right / Archer seated right on throne, holding bow. Senior 199.2D; Sellwood 91.13; Shore 473; MIG 612 (King 'A'). Good VF, even light porosity. Rare.

The Senior Type 199.2D drachms are remarkable as they completely imitate the Type 199.1D issues, including the countermark, which was engraved in the obverse die.
