KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III.. 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (31mm, 16.84 gm). Uncertain western Asia Minor mint, possibly Magnesia ad Maeandrum. Struck circa 225-200 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin headdress / Zeus seated left, holding eagle and sceptre; MAP monogram in left field; monogram beneath throne. Cf. Price 2029 and 2036; cf. Müller 1565 (drachm; uncertain). Near VF, minor encrustation on reverse.

While a version of this mark in the left field is known on an example from Magnesia, Price 2036 has it in combination with a second mark. The sstyle and fabric of our example suggest a western Asia Minor origin, though a more definite attribution is uncertain.
