KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III. 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.28 gm). Filaka/Ikaros mint. Autonomous issue, struck circa 250 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin headdress / ALEXANDROU, Zeus seated left, holding eagle in right hand, sceptre in left; "shin" in left field. Price 3957; Arnold-Biucchi, "Arabian Alexanders," in Mnemata: Papers in Memory of Nancy M. Waggoner, 6 (same obverse die); Müller -. EF. Very rare mint, only 24 specimens recorded by Arnold-Biucchi. ($2000)

Arnold-Biucchi's study of the Arabian Alexanders broke down the issues that had previously been attributed to a possible mint at Thadj/Gerrha, and proposed that they were the product of three mints (the two mentioned above, plus Bahrain/Tylos).
