Nimbate bust of Christ facing, holding Gospels / King Roger and Duke Roger (son of Roger) standing facing, holding long cross between them; along staff of cross, AN R X. Spahr 72; MEC 14, 213 (same dies). Toned, good VF. ($750)

This type records the granting of the Duchy of Apulia to the son of Roger of Sicily by Pope Innocent II in 1140, and probably continued to be struck until Duke Roger's death in 1148.
