Laureate bust left, slight drapery / Eagle standing facing, head and tail left, with wings spread, holding wreath in beak; Δ–Є flanking head, star between legs. Prieur 258 (this coin; McAlee 769. Toned, some minor porosity. Good VF. Extremely rare, four known to Prieur, and three in CoinArchives.

McAlee notes on page 292, note 169 of his catalogue that “Prieur listed several varieties for each main type, based on the engraver’s style.” (For example, Prieur 270). “Only illustrative examples of the type are cited here from Prieur’s catalogue. This catalogue generally distinguishes varieties only if there is an objective difference in type or legend.”
