HANOVER. George III. 1760-1820. Gilt Proof CU Pattern Penny (36mm, 28.33 g, 6h). Second issue; ‘Cartwheel’ coinage. Late Soho (Birmingham) mint . Dated 1797. Laureate bust right; K :· on truncation of bust / Britannia seated left on rocky outcropping, holding olive branch and trident; Union shield to right; in background to left, ship under sail right on sea; K on rock to right of shield; 1797 in incuse in exergue. Edge: plain. Peck 1089. Toned with considerable brilliance, a few light hairlines. Proof.
