[SNG Lockett]. Sylloge Nummorum Graecorum. British Series. Volume III. The Lockett Collection. Part I. Spain-Italy. Part II. Sicily-Thrace. Part III. Macedonia-Aegina (Gold and Silver). Part IV. Peloponnese-Aeolis (Gold and Silver). Part V. Lesbos-Cyrenaica: Addenda (Gold and Silver). (London; Published for the British Academy, 1938-49). Complete in five parts. Folio. 64 fine plates illustrating 3,542 coins with accompanying pages of descriptive text. All five parts bound into a single volume in full linen, red morocco label to spine, lettered in gilt, two further labels detached but loosely enclosed. Fine condition, externally a little worn and discoloured, the contents clean throughout. The seldom offered, original edition of this major collection. The coins were later dispersed through a number of Glendining’s sales in the 1950’s and early 1960’s and can often be found commanding a strong premium on the market today.
