INDIA. Kushans. Huvishka. Circa 126-164 AD. Æ Tetradrachm (27mm, 10.30 gm). King riding left on back of elephant / Four-armed Oesho (Siva) standing facing, head left, preparing to launch thunderbolt; tamgha in left field, stag left, rampant in right field. Göbl,
Kushan 950; Donum Burns -. VF for type, dark brown patina with light earthen encrustation, faint cleaning marks. Extremely rare.
The elephant left is a rarity in itself, but the important depiction of a bellicose Shiva makes this coin most appealing, combined with a nice centering and fuller flan-better than the example in Göbl.
