EASTERN EUROPE, Imitations of Alexander III of Macedon. Late 4th century BC. AR Drachm (16mm, 4.23 g, 11h). Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; uncertain object in left field. Price 1814 var. (symbol; same obv. die as illustration). VF, toned.
All of the published examples of Price 1814 have a somewhat crude style reverse, and the presence of this obverse die linked piece confirms that 1814 should be considered a ‘barbarous’ issue.
