Anonymous. Circa 225-214 BC. AR Didrachm – Quadrigatus (21mm, 6.43 g, 6h). Uncertain mint. Laureate head of Janus / Jupiter, hurling thunderbolt and holding scepter, in galloping quadriga right driven by Victory; incuse ROMA on raised tablet below. Crawford 30/1; Sydenham 64b; RSC 23; RBW –. Good VF, toned, obverse metal flaws.

Cf. RRC pl. VI, 3 for the obverse style match, this being the classic fat-neck RRC 30/1. Most of the reverse dies, cf. RRC pl. VI, are missing the left chariot wheel, which is clear on this coin. [Andrew McCabe]
