THRACE, Odessos. Circa 280-225 BC. AR Tetradrachm (30mm, 16.51 g, 12h). In the name and types of Alexander III of Macedon. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; monograms in left field and below throne. Topalov, Odesos –; Price 920 corr. (left field monogram; mint); Black Sea Hoard fig. 1 (OF/R21 – this coin). VF, lightly toned, area of minor roughness on obverse, minor double strike on reverse.

As noted in the study of the “Black Sea” Hoard, this coin provided an obverse die link to another issue of Odessos that allowed the reattribution of this issue (Price 920) from Kallatis to Odessos.
