Collector’s note: “Jules-Prosper Legastelois (born in Paris, 1855-1931) studied sculpture and medal engraving. He was pupil to Levasseur, Charlier, Roty and Tonnelier. He received a silver medal at the Exposition Universelle 1889, an honorable mention in 1896, a third-class medal in 1899 and a bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1900. Legastelois was created Chevalier of the Legion of Honor. From 1914, Legastelois mainly executed war medals.”
