Female figure seated facing , head left, holding orchid; three cherubs around and various flowers and tools around / Cartouche engraved Ste D’HORTICULTURE/ & DE BOTANIQUE/ MARSEILLE/ EXPOSITION FLORALE/ 1927, flowers and produce around; below, engraved A MR/ HENRI FALQUE/ TRESORIER. EF. In original case of issue.


Collector’s note: “Jules-Prosper Legastelois (born in Paris, 1855-1931) studied sculpture and medal engraving. He was pupil to Levasseur, Charlier, Roty and Tonnelier. He received a silver medal at the Exposition Universelle 1889, an honorable mention in 1896, a third-class medal in 1899 and a bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1900. Legastelois was created Chevalier of the Legion of Honor. From 1914, Legastelois mainly executed war medals.
