TOKENS, Mavericks. J. Sweet. Æ Token (28mm, 11.14 g). Struck late 19th century(?). ‘J. SWEET’ within toothed rectangular border, struck multiple times on a Russian kopeck dated 1798 EM. An additional circular mark or flan flaw on obverse. Brunk S-1165 (this piece cited?). VF. Extremely rare.
This unusual US token is known to Brunk on three specimens: cents dated 1835 and 1881, and a Russian kopeck dated 1798, presumably the present example. American countermarks on foreign coppers are uncommon, and quite rare on Russian host coins.
