EGYPT, Alexandria. Domitian. AD 81-96. Æ Drachm (35mm, 24.26 g, 12h). Dated RY 13 (AD 93/94). Laureate head right / Emperor standing right in elephant quadriga, holding laurel branch and eagle-tipped scepter; to right above elephants: Nike standing right, holding wreath and palm frond. RPC II 2694; Köln –; Dattari (Savio) 460; K&G 24.209; Emmett 252.13 (R5). Near VF, dark brown patina with patches of green and red. Very rare.

The authors of RPC note that “the scene, repeated on coins of years 14 and 15, could be a representation of a triumph, perhaps referring to Domitian’s twenty-second (and last) imperatorial acclamation in AD 92.”
