EASTERN EUROPE, Imitations of Philip II of Macedon. Late 4th-early 3rd centuries BC. AR Tetradrachm (26.5mm, 13.88 g, 3h). Vollständiger Legende (Compelete Legend) type. Struck in central Dacia. Laureate head of Zeus right / Horseman riding right; monogram below, dolphin below foreleg. Cf. OTA 10; CCCBM –; KMW –; Lanz –. In NGC encapsulation, graded XF, Strike 5/5, Surface 3/5. Variety unpublished in the standard references.

From the Dr. Patrick H. C. Tan Collection.

An unusual imitation using two subsidiary symbols that usually appear under the foreleg, while omitting the primary symbol, lambda-over-torch, that should be below the horse. Apparently, the engraver was not familiar with the series he was copying.
