PTOLEMAIC KINGS of EGYPT. temp Ptolemy VIII Euergetes II (Physcon). 145-116 BC. Æ Chalkous(?) (11mm, 1.46 g, 12h). Uncertain mint in Cyprus. Head of female (Aphrodite or Arsinoe III?) right / Double cornucopia tied with fillets. Svoronos 1160; SNG Copenhagen 648. VF, earthen dark brown patina.

Previously attributed to Ptolemy IV, but Cathy Lorber suggests that “the huge numbers found in the Nea Paphos excavations suggest it was a later issue, perhaps produced over a long period of time, circa second to first century BC(?).”
