PAPHLAGONIA, Sinope. Time of Julius Caesar(?). 1st Century BC. Æ (15mm, 1.77 g, 12h). Terminal statue; COL D[...](?) to either side / Plow within wreath. RPC I –; RPC Suppl. I –; RPC Suppl. II –; FITA –; BMC –; SNG Copenhagen –; RG –. Near VF, brown patina, cleaning scratches, small area of verdigris on the reverse. Extremely rare.

The attribution to Sinope is based on a similar coin with Julius Caesar’s portrait on the obverse and a plow within a wreath on the reverse in Recueil Général (cf. pl. XXVI, 22). Also see RG pl. 27, 15 for a similar terminal statue obverse.
