LESBOS, Mytilene. Circa 188-170 BC. AR Tetradrachm (35.5mm, 16.12 g, 12h). In the name and types of Alexander III of Macedon. Peisistratos, magistrate. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; kithara in left field, kerykeion below throne, [ΠE]IΣIΣTPATOΣ in exergue. Price 1738 var. (no kerykeion); HGC 6, 1047; Müller 970. Near VF, lightly toned. Extremely rare with kerykeion, only noted by Müller (from an uncertain source); none in CoinArchives, Pella database, or ANS photofile.

From the collection of Will Gordon.

The appearance of this tetradrachm vindicates Müller’s reading of the coin he examined. Price has Müller 970 in brackets, assuming that it may be incorrect.
