Robertson, Anne S. Roman Imperial Coins In The Hunter Coin Cabinet: Volumes I-V. (Oxford, 1962-1982). 2800+ pages, 432 plates. All blue cloth with dust jackets. This collection is second probably only to the British Museum and the main value of these references is in the complete indices, detailed descriptions, and the outstanding collotype plates (illustrating nearly two-thirds of the entire collection). Each volume contains a survey of the coinage of that period with sections on the mints, officinae, metrology, denominations, and detailed discussions of the coinages of individual emperors. Cross references to RIC and BMCRE. All volumes are out of print and scarce and unlike RIC and BMCRE, this has never been reprinted. Only some trivial shelf wear, otherwise an exceptionally clean set that’s nearly new.

From the Dr. Lawrence A. Adams library.
