Zeno. Second reign, AD 476-491. AV Solidus (21mm, 4.46 g, 6h). Constantinople mint, 5th officina. Pearl-diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed bust facing slightly right, holding spear and shield / Victory standing left, holding long, jeweled cross; star to right; TЄ//CONOB. RIC X 927; Depeyrot 112/1; Lacam pl. 55, 25 (Ticinum mint under Theodoric). Good VF, bent flan. Rare.

From the collection of Dr. Lawrence A. Adams. Ex Waddell II (12 Septmeber 1987), lot 589.

This issue has long been given to Thesssalonica due to the “T” in the reverse legend, but both finds and the large number of officina signing the coins (10 total) support an attribution to the Constantinople mint.
