INDIA, Gupta Empire. First Dynasty. Chandragupta I or Samudragupta. Circa AD 320-380. AV Dinar (21mm, 7.26 g, 12h). King-and-Queen type (Class I, Variety a). Chandragupta I, nimbate and holding standard, standing left, offering uncertain object to Kumaradevi, also nimbate, standing right / Lakshmi seated facing on lion recumbent right, feet on lotus, holding diadem and cornucopia; tamgha to left. BKB 1 (Chandragupta; same rev die); BMC Guptas p. 9, - (Samudragupta); cf. Alketar p. 34, 4 (Chandragupta I); Bayana 6 (Chandragupta Ie). Good VF, traces of deposits on reverse, obverse struck with worn die. Rare.
