ARABIA, Southern. Saba'. 1st century BC - 1st century AD. AR Unit (25mm, 5.37 g, 6h). Imitating Athens ‘New Style’ coinage. Laureate male head right within wreath / Owl standing right, head facing, on amphora; monogram and ‘cursive inscription’ to left and above, N (in South Arabian; mark of value) below tail; to right, Λ•E above royal Sabaean monogram and curved symbol. CAF 1.11i; Huth 278–80; SNG ANS 1462; HGC 10, 724. Good VF, lightly toned, double struck. Excellent metal and exceptionally well-preserved for issue.
