INDIA, Colonial. Dutch India. Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (Dutch East India Company). 1602-1800. AR “18 Stuivers” (23mm, 7.33 g). Colombo in Ceylon (Sri Lanka) countermarked issue. Struck 1661 or shortly thereafter. Dutch East India Company monogram, C above (for Colombo); all within round incuse on reverse of a Tiflis mint Abbasi of 4 shahis of Shah Sulayman I (Safi II), dated AH 1079 [AD 1668/9] (Cf. Rabino di Borgomale 197 [for type]; Farahbakhsh –). Scholten 1285b. Host coin VF; countermark VF, toned. Very rare.
