CHINA, Qīng dynasty. Dézōng (Guāngxù). AD 1875-1908. AR 7 Mace 2 Candareens – Dollar (39mm, 26.78 g, 11h). Imperial Dragon type. Jiāngnán province. Nánjīng mint. Dated cyclical year 8-2 (1901). “zào shěng nán jiāng xīn kù píng qī qián èr fēn zǐ,” (Made in Jiāngnán province/gēng [cyclical date stem]/Treasury scales equal to 7 qián and 2 fēn/chǒu [cyclical date branch]) in Hànzì, “bǎo yuán guāng xù,” (Valuable yuán of Guāngxù) in Hànzì around similar legend in Manchu script / KIANG NAN PROVINCE/(rosette) 7 MACE AND 2 CANDAREENS (rosette), flying imperial dragon facing, coiled leftward around fireball and surrounded by stylized clouds.
