KINGS of MACEDON. Philip III Arrhidaios. 323-317 BC. AV Stater (18mm, 8.58 g, 4h). In the types of Philip II. Abydos mint. Struck under Leonnatos, Arrhidaios, or Antigonos I Monophthalmos. Head of Apollo right, wearing laurel wreath / ΦIΛIΠΠOY, charioteer, holding kentron in right hand, reins in left, driving biga right; star and monogram below. Thompson, Philip 25 var. (additional control mark); ADM II Series VII, 96 (same dies; this coin referenced); SNG ANS 299–300 var. (same). Choice EF, underlying luster. Very rare issue with only the monogram without additional control marks.
