INDIA, Independent States. Sikh Empire. AV Temple Medallion (28mm, 8.98 g, 12h). Struck circa AD 1898. Guru Nanak, seated facing on patio, cross legged; to left, disciple Bala seated right, playing tamboura; to right, disciple Mardana seated left, holding peacock fan; shade tree behind, balustrade below, water pot and sandals in exergue / Abbreviated Guru Granth Sahib – ek onkar. Brotman –; cf. Mitchiner, Indian 425-6 (for obv.). Near EF, struck with worn dies. Rare in gold.
