PTOLEMAIC KINGS of EGYPT. Ptolemy I Soter. As satrap, 323-305 BC. AR Tetradrachm (26mm, 16.46 g, 12h). Attic standard. In the name of Alexander III of Macedon. Alexandreia mint. Struck circa 316-312/0 BC. Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, wearing elephant skin and aegis with tiny ΔO to right of elephant ear / Athena Alkidemos advancing right, brandishing spear and wearing shield; monogram to inner left; to right, EY and eagle standing right on thunderbolt. Svoronos 44, pl. II, 23 (same dies); Zervos Issue 20A (dies 300/b); SNG Copenhagen –; Noeske –; Triton XVII, lot 410 (same dies); CNG 94, lot 775 (same dies). Good VF, toned, light roughness, faint cleaning marks on reverse. Very rare issue with do on obverse, struck from the same obverse die as the ŬE$Å@drE5o@ issue (cf. Svoronos pl. 4, 23 and Kraay & Hirmer 798).
