THESSALY, Larissa. Circa 356-342 BC. AR Hemidrachm (15mm, 2.90 g, 5h). Head of the nymph Larissa facing slightly left, wearing ampyx, earring, and necklace / ΛAPIΣ–AIΩN, horse right, about to roll. BCD Thessaly II 324 (same dies). VF, toned, granular surfaces.
From the BCD Collection.
A note from BCD from the Triton sale: The arrangement of the reverse legend is indicative of the early date of this hemidrachm. When the “run of the mill” pretty facing heads of the late group make their appearance, the reverse legend always starts at the top and the ethnic stays that way until the series ends.
