MACEDON, Kings of. Alexander III. 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.13 gm). Uncertain Phoenician mint. Struck 323-317 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin headdress / Zeus seated left, holding eagle and sceptre; Aramaic 'A' under throne. Price 3573 (same dies); Müller -. VF. Very rare issue. ($300)

Newell attributed this variety to Sidon, Year 1 (333/332 BC). Price, noting the absence of the Aramaic ‘S’ in the left field and the drawn back right leg of Zeus, concluded that this issue was not from Sidon but was unable to assign a specific mint.
