ARAB-SASANIAN. Bukhara. Anonymous issues imitating Varhran V. Before 775 AD. AR Drachm (3.10 gm). Crowned and cuirassed Sasanian style bust right, with degraded Bhukaran legend which begins inside bust / Fire altar with attandents. Walker Arab-Sassanian, pg. 163, b4; Zeimal (BAI 8, 1994) pl. I, 7. Good VF, reverse die rust. Rare variety. An intermediate Bukharan imitations of Sasanian coinage, this coin is unusual in that the beginning of the legend is inside the bust, replacing the usual large pellets which represent musculature // Lot also includes: ARAB-SASANIAN. Umayyad governors. 'Abdallah ibn Khazim. AH 62-72/681-691 AD. AR Drachm (3.06 gm). Struck AH 69 (sic)=688 AD. "Merv" mint. Sasanian style crowned bust right, pellet in annulet on chest (Gaube, brustkollier VI), title in Pahlevi; "bismillah" and crescent flanked by pellet trefoils in margin, and Hunnic countermarks in margin / Fire altar flanked by attendants; crescent flanked by two pellets in margin.
