(990.1) THESSALY, Koinon of Thessaly. Valerian I. AD 253-260. Æ Triassarion (19mm, 6.16 g, 12h). [AV K ΠOΛ]O VAΛЄPIANOC, radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / ΘЄCCAΛΩN KOINON, Nike, holding wreath in extended right hand, reins in left hand, driving triga galloping right; Γ (mark of value) below horses. Burrer, MA-G 49 (same obv. die); Rogers 129, fig. 49. Good Fine, brown patina with some red areas.

This coin is struck from the same obverse die used for the tetrassarion in lot 988.2, above.

(990.2) THESSALY, Koinon of Thessaly. Valerian I. AD 253-260. Æ Triassarion (20mm, 5.80 g, 12h). AV K ΠOΛI-O VAΛЄPIANOC, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / ΘЄCCAΛΩN KOINON, Nike, holding wreath in extended right hand, reins in left hand, driving triga galloping right; Γ (mark of value) below horses. Burrer, MA-G 49 (same rev. die); Rogers 124 var. (obv. legend). Good Fine, brown patina with traces of red.

AV K ΠOΛI-O V[AΛЄPIANOC], laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / [KOI]NON Θ[Є]CCAΛ[Ω]N, warrior advancing right, holding spear in his right hand, shield on left arm. Burrer, MA-G 50 (same obv. die); Rogers –. Good Fine, dark green patina with some reverse roughness; rare.
